Kari McKown, MOT, OTR
Occupational Therapist

Kari graduated with a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Tech University, both in Lubbock, Texas. She is licensed by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners and certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. Kari opened her private practice in 2006 after working in a variety of areas including outpatient rehabilitation, hospital, public school system, long term care, home health, private practice and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Kari is certified in Interactive Metronome and has completed numerous continuing education courses in the areas of sensory integration and NDT treatment. Kari is also a Registered Therapist in Hippotherapy and is a member of the American Hippotherapy Association.  Kari is a local advocare for families and individuals with special needs. 

Kari’s interests and expertise include pediatric sensory integration evaluation and treatment, NDT, feeding disorders, NICU developmental care, traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury. Kari is passionate about seeing kids succeed in all areas of life and helping them to have FUN no matter their limitations.  
Kari is married to Mark and has two children, Maci & Luke and is expecting her third in 2016.

Lauri Cole M.S., CCC/SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist

Lauri holds a Masters of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Texas Woman’s University. She is certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) and licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology. She is a member of the Texas Speech Language Hearing Association (TSHA) and CPR certified.

Lauri worked as a school based speech therapist for 10 years prior to establishing Academy for Speech and Language. She has an enthusiasm for helping children achieve their full potential while providing their families with the necessary tools to maximize their progress.

Lauri is married to Chad and she has two daughters, Reagan and Landry.

Heather R. Field, M.S., CCC/SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist

Heather holds a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Texas Woman’s University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Baylor University.

She is certified by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA), licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology, holds membership with the Texas Speech Language Hearing Association (TSHA) and is CPR certified. She also serves on the board for REACH Therapeutic Riding Center & the Children’s Committee of First Baptist Woodway.

Heather has experience in assessment and intervention of speech and language disorders in the public school system, hospital, outpatient rehabilitation, home health, long term care, and private practice.

Additional certifications include Hippotherapy and Interactive Metronome. She is motivated to engage children in a positive and fun environment while collaborating with the family, school, and other professionals to maximize success.

Heather is married to Cody. They have a daughter, Taylor, and a son, Shane.
